Products made for the real world

SABIC has engineered products that can be used in almost every application in the polyethylene market. The solutions, developed by SABIC for real-life packaging challenges, will be showcased by renowned machine manufacturers at K2007.

The leading international trade fair for plastics and rubber, K2007 runs from October 24-31 in Dusseldorf, Germany and will highlight successful solutions for film applications that have been developed jointly by SABIC and machine manufacturers. The partners will take advantage of this opportunity to demonstrate the value of their offerings to a broad audience of potential customers.

Maximum exposure

On one hand, K2007 is a good platform for SABIC to create brand awareness and highlight its products. On the other hand, the machine manufacturers need material to demonstrate their machines' capabilities. They would prefer to do this with resin suppliers that their customers know, because this is proof that their machines work well with materials from leading suppliers.

A perfect match

The relationship between SABIC and machine manufacturers has always been very close. SABIC utilizes the manufacturers' machine capacity to test its materials or to test formulations with its materials. In this way, SABIC can demonstrate a grade’s excellent performance to its customers. In return, the machine manufacturers use SABIC materials to test their machinery and demonstrate the performance of their equipment to their customers.

The collaboration between SABIC and machine manufacturers at K2007 is indeed an ideal match. It is also a perfect occasion to exchange information about the market and its trends, and to discuss new ways for bringing additional solutions for real-life packaging products to market.

Listed below are the machine manufacturers, all leaders in the plasticizing machinery business, which will demonstrate their lines using SABIC material at K2007 and/or at their in-house showrooms.

Hosokawa Alpine (K2007: Hall 16/D06)

Hosokawa Alpine, located in Augsburg, Germany, is a company specialized in multilayer blown film lines and grinding equipment. At K2007, the manufacturer will demonstrate a 3-layer collation shrink film concept made of SABIC® LLDPE 726Q and SABIC® LDPE 2501TN00. This high-optic film is suitable for the shrink packaging of beverages and bottled water multi-packs.

Reifenhäuser Extrusion (K2007: Hall 17/A21)

Reifenhäuser Extrusion, based in Troisdorf, Germany, is a manufacturer of various plasticizing equipment like multilayer blown film lines, cast film lines, sheet extrusion lines, extrusion coating lines, non-woven fiber equipment, and mono filaments and tapes. Among other applications, the company will run blown film lines at K2007.

One blown film line will demonstrate a multilayer film for form fill and seal bags (FFS) and a number of different blown film lines showing films for applications, ranging from frozen food packaging to heavy duty packaging, label film, and stand-up pouches (SUP).

SABIC® LDPE 2501TH00, SABIC® LLDPE 6118NE, SABIC® LLDPE 0132HS00, SABIC® LLDPE 726Q, SABIC® LLDPE 726N, and SABIC® HDPE F04660 will be used to demonstrate these applications during the K-fair. At its center in Troisdorf, Reifenhäuser Extrusion will exhibit multilayer cast lines and spun-bond extrusion.

Dolci Extrusion (K2007: Hall 16/A05)

Headquartered in Milan, Italy, Dolci Extrusion is a leading Italian manufacturer of blown and cast film extrusion lines. Its primary business lies in multilayer machinery. At K2007, Dolci Extrusion will operate a newly-developed 5-layer cast stretch line that will run on SABIC® LLDPE 6318BE and SABIC® LLDPE 318B.

Cast stretch film's many advantages include high tensile strength, superior tear resistance, puncture resistance, high elasticity, consistent film thickness and optimum cling, and slip and load retention. Dolci Extrusion will display a 3-layer blown film line, in which it will demonstrate a high optic, high mechanical strength collation shrink formulation based on SABIC® LDPE 2600TC00, SABIC® LLDPE 726N and SABIC® LLDPE 726Q.

Kuhne (K2007: Hall 17/A41)

Located in Sankt Augustin, Germany, Kuhne will organize an in-house fair and provide a shuttle bus between the K2007 premises and Kuhne. The manufacturer will run applications for thermoshrink film amongst which a formulation for high optic collation shrink. This film will be made with a 3-layer blown film line. The formulation of this film is based on SABIC® LLDPE 726Q, SABIC® LLDPE726N and SABIC® LDPE2501TH00.

Windmöller & Hölscher (K2007: Hall 17/A59)

Windmöller & Hölscher is located at Lengerich in Germany. It is a leading producer of various plasticizing machinery like multilayer blown and cast film lines for PE and PP film structures. Windmöller & Hölscher will organize an in-house fair during K2007. Existing or potential customers can visit the machine manufacturer’s center by means of a shuttle service. During its in-house demonstrations, Windmöller & Hölscher will display the use of SABIC® HDPEF04660, a paper-like application that is popular for its exceptional optical and mechanical properties. Often employed in high-quality brochures, this grade looks and feels like paper, but is actually made from plastic.

Diing Kuen (K2007: Hall 16/E71)

Diing Kuen is a Taiwanese manufacturer of machinery for PE and PP conversion. It sells its machinery in more then 80 countries around the world. At K2007, Diing Kuen will demonstrate two blown film lines running on SABIC material. The first is a 3-layer coextrusion line that will display a formulation for lamination and automated packaging films based on SABIC® LLDPE 218W and SABIC® LDPE 4023W. The second is a mono layer blown film line to demonstrate a formulation for films for sacks and bags based on SABIC® LDPE 2100TN00.
